So, I’m vegetarian. It’s not easy and find good vegetarian food, so a go to meal for me and a lot of other vegetarians is a veggie burger. I usually just buy them frozen at the grocery store, but one day I thought “Why not try making them, too?” They came out very well, so I thought I’d share a couple of recipes with you.
Classic Black Bean Burger
Active Time: 20 minutes Total Time: 20 minutes Yields: About 5 burgers

Ingredients
- 1 can black beans
- 1/2 cup corn
- 1/4 onion, diced and sautéed
- 1 tomato, diced
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced and sautéed
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/4 cup salsa
- 1 cup quinoa, cooked
- Cooking oil
- Whatever toppings or buns you would like
Recipe
Mash the black beans with a fork or potato masher. Add the corn, onion, quinoa, tomato, salsa, paprika, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix fully and then form circular patties. Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until dark brown and holding together, in a greased pan. Cool for 5 minutes and put the patties in buns with whatever topping you like.
Indian Spiced Chickpea Burgers
Active Time: 20 minutes Total Time: 20 minutes Yields: About 5 burgers

Ingredients
- 1 can chickpeas
- 2 teaspoons turmeric
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cayenne red pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- A dash of garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooking oil
- Buns and whatever topping you want
Recipe
Mash the chickpeas with a fork or potato masher. Add the spices and mix well. Form into patties and fry for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown and holding together, in a greased pan. Put in buns, add toppings, and enjoy!
